Once Capture Express is running, it remains hidden in the background visible through a system tray icon. It jumps into action by pressing the assigned hot key. Once the hot key has been pressed, a window appears allowing you to choose your capture option. The capture choice defaults to the option defined in the Preferences section of the program.

If you want to use the default, simply hit the enter key or click on the capture button. If you do not want the default, select another option and press the enter key or click on the capture button to capture the image. Capture Express hides itself again and the capture begins. If you are capturing an area, you will be allowed to stretch and move an image grabber.

After completing the capture, Capture Express will appear once again. This time you are presented with choices of what you want to do with the captured image. These include saving it in a variety of file formats, copying to the clipboard, printing or sending the image via email.

The Automatic Capture method reduces the number of steps required for the capture process. In some cases all of the steps are eliminated except for pressing the hot key to start the capture.
