Installing Capture Express

This topic is primarily for those who are reading from the online help file. If you are reading this from the installed help file, then most likely you have already installed the program successfully. The steps to install Capture Express are fairly standard.

Downloading and Installing Capture Express  

1. First download the program from www.captureexpress.com. You may select to download the program in a .exe or a .zip format.

2. Save the downloaded file to a folder on your hard drive.

3. Locate the downloaded file and double click the .exe file to start the installation process. Or use your .zip program to extract the contents of the .zip file and then run the .exe file to start the install.   

4. You are presented with two install options - a default installation or a custom installation. These are explained below.

Default installation

The install decisions are made for you with the default installation.

1. The program installs to C:\Program Files\Capture Express.

2. A Capture Express shortcut is placed in the Start menu.

3. The program is set to run each time you start windows.

4. The Help file and Quick Start Guide are installed with the program.

Custom Installation

As expected, the custom installation provides a number of options during the install process.

1. Choose whether to install the Help File and/or the Quick Start Guide.

2. Option to install older files over top of newer files, in case you want to install an older version of Capture Express without first un-installing the newer version.

3. Choose where you want the program installed on your hard drive.

4. Select where you want the Capture Express shortcut placed in the Start menu.

5. Select whether to have Capture Express load on Windows startup or not.

5. When the program is first started, an icon is placed in the System Tray (next to the clock). Right clicking on the icon opens a menu of program options. By default, left clicking on the icon opens the Capture Express window. The left click action may be changed in the preferences.

Licensing Capture Express 

If you have purchased the license for Capture Express you will receive a license code. From the Capture Express window click on Help | License Capture Express to activate the License Information window. Enter your name and code exactly as they appear on the license instructions you received when you purchased Capture Express. Press OK to save the license information. Your license status will now display in the lower left corner of the Capture Express window.
