System Tray Functions

Capture Express places an icon  in the system tray when the program is running. The system tray is typically located at the end of the task bar and resides in the bottom right corner of your screen. Right clicking on this icon opens the following menu.

Capture Image

Left click on this option to open the Capture screen and start a manual image capture. Pressing the hot key assigned in the Manual Capture preferences accomplishes the same thing.

Open Image

This option allows you to open a .bmp, .jpg, .png, .gif or .tif file and load it into Capture Express. You will be presented with a standard file open dialog box to locate the file.  After selecting the file, the Capture Express opens and you can choose what to do with the image, such as save to a new file, print, copy or email.

Preferences

This option opens the Preferences panel which allows you to configure the program to your individual liking. Among other things, select a hot key for capture activation, choose a default screen capture item, choose a default action to take place on the captured image and configure your email settings.

Tools

The Tools menu item allows you to restore the keyboard and mouse hooks or restore the program to its default settings.

Restore Program Defaults

This option restores Capture Express to all of its default preference settings.

Restore Keyboard and Mouse Hooks

It is possible for other programs which are run after Capture Express to improperly install themselves into the system wide Windows keyboard and mouse hooks. If the keyboard hooks are not working correctly, Capture Express will no longer be able to monitor keystrokes. It will not recognize when you press the hot key to start a capture.

In the event that the mouse hooks are fouled up, Capture Express will no longer be able to capture areas and shapes using the mouse.

This option resets the Windows keyboard and mouse hooks used by Capture Express. This provides Capture Express with the first look at the keystrokes and mouse hooks, which enables the program to again properly respond to keystrokes and the mouse.
