Print

Printing images can be more complicated than printing a document. When an image is printed, it depends on your printer driver, your video driver and the routines within windows itself. Sometimes certain printer or video drivers do not work well with the print routines in Capture Express. Because of this, we have implemented several print options. The drivers on your system may work with some options and not with others.

Note: Things to try if the printing is not working correctly:

1) If the image will not print, try turning the different options on or off.

2) If your image is not printed properly, turn the "Detailed Print" option off.

3) If your image takes a long time to print, turn on "Print Using Device Dependent Bitmap"

Capture Express > Options > Preferences > Print

Detailed Print

The Detailed Print option sends more detail to the printer for printing images. Because more information is sent to the printer it may take a little longer to print. This option is turned on by default. Unless you are experiencing printing problems we recommend leaving Detailed Print selected.

Print Using Device Dependent Bitmap

Print Using Device Dependent Bitmap is only available if the "Detailed Print" option is selected. This function is designed to help speed the printing of the Detailed Print. Unless you are experiencing printing problems we recommend leaving this option selected.

Automatically Calculate the Print Scale

The resolution (or number of pixels per inch) of your computer monitor is different than the resolution of your printer. The Print Scale adjusts the size of the image before printing to accommodate this difference. With this option enabled Capture Express estimates the size of the image on the monitor, estimates how it will appear on the printer and sets the Print Scale automatically.

Default Print Scale

If you disable the Automatically Calculate the Print Scale option, you will need to manually enter a value in the Default Print Scale field. The value entered in the Default Print Scale field will appear in the Scale field of the Print dialog each time you print an image.

Print Scale Units

Select whether to have the Print dialog display in inches, millimeters or centimeters.
